Also, I’m prejudiced toward football as an African sport, based on the sheer number of kids I’ve watched playing it all over the continent. I loved driving up to a red dust football field full of kids playing with a homemade ball and suddenly, it’s an international match because of the old mazungu sitting on the sidelines. Nowhere else in the world plays it as earnestly as those kids.
